United Methodist Church Service
and Fellowship
Service and Fellowship Nurture Ministries Team:
Shall give attention to the educational, worship, and
stewardship components of ministry. Our congregation participates regularly
in worship as greeters, lay readers, and though choir and bell choir. Christian
education is offered for all ages through the Jacksonville Church. The
children congregate at the beginning of the worship service for a special
"chiIdren's moment" and then attend Sunday School. Small groups for adult
study and fellowship are also held..
Outreach Ministries Team:
Shall give attention to local and larger community ministries
of compassion and advocacy, church and societal issues, global ministries
concerns, health and welfare ministries, Christian unity and interrelations
concerns, religion and race, and the status and role of women. Mission
outreach, both locally and globally, is central to our church. We participate
with the Area Council of Churches in activities such as the Food Bank and
Crop Walk. Local camperships are provided for church and community youth,
and worldwide mission programs are generously supported. The church building
is offered as a "community center" for many traditional Jacksonville events.
Witness Ministries Team:
Shall attend to the evangelistic outreach to persons,
membership care, spiritual formation, communications, lay speaking ministries
and witnessing through the sharing of personal and congregational stories
of Christian experience, faith and service. Our church offers opportunities
for fellowship for all. The United Methodist Women meet monthly. The men
in the church hold church breakfasts and work sessions to maintain and
improve church facilities. Our youth groups are active year-round. The
Jacksonville Church dinners and bazaars are known throughout the area.
